Welcome to Ute Bluff Lodge in beautiful South Fork, Colorado! The South Fork Area is where the South Fork of the Rio Grande joins the main body of the Rio Grande.
South Fork is located at the junction of the famous Rio Grande River and its south fork, hence the town name. Situated at the western edge of the San Luis Valley, it is one of the biggest intermountain valleys in the world. Where Highways 160 and 149 meet in the center of town, you will find the beginning of the historic Silver Thread National Scenic Byway. The byway follows portions of the historic Barlow and Sanderson stage road. Along the way, you can see signs of miners, explorers, and a wide variety of geological wonders – including fossil beds and volcanic formations. Travelers will be captivated by wildlife and fall colors.
Initially developed as a community to service lumber and mining operations, South Fork is now the center of a rapidly growing and changing tourist and recreation area. Visitors can enjoy an abundance of all-season activities. Surrounded by nearly 2 million acres of national forest, multitudes of historical, cultural, and recreational activities await visitors. This community also offers restaurants, shops, and galleries. The breathtaking scenery and family oriented adventure draws visitors back year after year.
Ute Bluff is located on the east edge of the town of South Fork. Guests can stay in one of our 21 rustic lodge rooms, relax in one of our 8 log cabins, or set up camp on one of our 30 RV sites.
We invite you to visit us at Ute Bluff Lodge. We look forward to seeing you soon!
